Do I need any prior outdoor experience?
No outdoor experience is necessary. Our highly trained staff will teach you the skills necessary for each activity. They will provide supervision and individual guidance throughout your experience.
What kind of physical condition should I be in?
We recommend that you come in good physical condition. If you regularly work out in the gym or participate in aerobic activities, you will be best prepared. Our three venues use lodges that are situated at 5,400, 7,000 and 8,500 feet above sea level; we will climb and hike to elevations between 6,000 and 13,000 feet, depending on the retreat location. We recommend that you have a physical exam and check up with your doctor prior to arrival, especially if you have specific medical conditions.
What kind of risks are involved?
There is a certain level of risk in any outdoor activity; therefore, you will be required to sign a waiver once you arrive. Mind Over Mountains uses extremely experienced outdoor professionals to lead you through each activity. As a participant, you will learn to carefully manage the risks of yoga, hiking, rock climbing, peak climbing and other physical adventures. A heightened awareness of the risks associated with outdoor adventures will allow you to relax and enjoy your experience.
What kind of temperatures and weather might I encounter?
One of the special aspects of the mountains is the varied weather. We have hot days, cold days, sunny days, cloudy days, rainy days, windy days, and snowy days. Sometimes all within a few hours! The average temperatures can reach the eighties during the day and nighttime temperatures can dip below freezing. You should follow our detailed clothing list so youll know what to bring.
